Welcome to my mutterings to life in general and all that Jazz!

So this is my attempt at the wonderful world of blogging!

It will contain my ramblings of life, hopes, dreams and a smattering of what makes me smile!

So grab a cupcake, (hopefully one with zillions of buttercream!) a cup of tea and sit back and take yourself out from this busy life for a few moments................................

A blast from the Past!

As part of Magpie Monday by the lovely Miss Lizzie at Me and My Shadow Blog spot Fame I managed to find this fabulous blast from the past two weeks ago, however things have been quite hectic so apologies for a late posting.

Now I am of that certain age when at school I studied RSA Typing and Office Practice so whilst at the charity shop, I spotted this at the back on the window, I never thought it would be for sale !......................  it was FANTASTIC!

Its not top or the range or so retro that I would covet it, but it simply fantastic for one off address labels and for making retro styled pricing labels for my items, complete with case and two spare ribbons and two spare eraser ribbons it was a Bargain!

Yes I can use my PC and printer for labels, but there is a certain charm of hearing the keys hit the daisy wheel and type away.

I am sure when the novelty wears off or if its gets in my way, it will find a new home when I take it back, but for now it stays!

At £5 it was worth every penny and just the retro feeling was worth it.

  1. £5!!! wow!! A bargain indeed!! Brilliant!

  2. Oh how fab!!

I bet that feels totally different to typing on a computer keyboard.

    £5?? That a bargain!

    Thanks for linking up xx

  3. Great bargain! way back when I learnt to type we had 3 sheets of paper, 2 sheets of carbon paper and a typwriter rubber! Oh ! when I think back to those days, how the World has progressed. xx

  4. Yes I think it shows our ages, I remember being told I could have a go on the electric typewriter instead of the manual one as I had reached typing 70 words a minute! We also had a gestetner photo copier in our Typing Room! lol

  5. Brings back memories of typing lessons which is one of the best things I ever did as I have really fast speeds which is useful now we do everything on keyboards.
Wonder how long it will be before the XBox 360 is a retro dream?! Can't come soon enough for me.
My finds are over at http://gigglingatitall.blogspot.com

  6. Oh I did RSA typing and office studies too. It takes me back to my first ever job for an Insurance Firm when the boss would call us in to take a letter and we would then go out and type it up an a machine very similar to this one. Ahhh those were the days.....

  7. Lol...I did RSA typing too! I was always sooooo rubbish at it though! We used typewriters just like that one. I remember them being ultra modern, lol x

  8. What an absolute bargain for £5! I'm also fairly fond of typewriters and have been keeping an eye out for one :-)

    Jem xXx

P.S Stopping by from Magpie Monday

  9. Now that takes me back - I learnt to type back in the day on a very similar machine to that one!
